Tailored Brands is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Real Estate Counsel to join our team and help us maintain momentum in growing store portfolio. Ideally, you will have a strong understanding of real estate law and practices, as well as experience in a variety of related legal areas, including risk management, construction, operations, and more. This role will report to the Senior Director, Real Estate Law.
What You'll Do | Key Accountabilities
- Negotiate, draft, and finalize new leases and amendments for retail locations, corporate offices, distribution centers, and other locations in U.S. and Canada, and various real estate legal matters related to those locations, including, but not limited to, storage leases, and lease disputes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with all areas of the business, including, but not limited to, senior leadership.
- Negotiate, draft, and finalize new master service agreements and amendments for construction and facilities vendors.
- Provide legal counsel on all aspects of real estate, lease administration and related processes for the company's real property.
- Navigate sophisticated and complex real estate negotiations in coordination with key business partners within the company.
- Provide commercially sound, accurate, and timely legal advice and solutions to the Real Estate Team and related stakeholders, e.g., Lease Administration, Construction, Finance, and Store Operations.
- Facilitate continuous improvement in the company's processes and procedures related to lease negotiations.
- Proactively identify and advise key risks impacting company's retail business, including new real estate opportunities and solutions providing advice and guidance regarding lease disputes and litigation.

- JD from an accredited law school
- Membership with good standing in at least one U.S. State Bar.
- At least 7 years of leasing experience, extensive knowledge of current retail store lease practices and trends. In-house legal experience preferred.
- Capable of interacting with, and establishing the respect and confidence of, senior business leaders.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to influence and provide timely and effective legal and business advice and support at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of matters at any given time, work well under pressure, successfully oversee and prioritize multiple competing assignments, and effectively manage deadlines.
- Business-oriented problem solver and a flexible team player, with ability to partner across departments in order to provide legal support that will enable teams to do business effectively.
- Ability to analyze complex matters and propose creative and practical solutions, even in ambiguous situations.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with individuals at various levels.

- Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily
- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment
- Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, working partially from home and partially out of either our Houston, Texas or Dublin, CA office or remote, traveling when necessary

The starting [salary/rate] for this position is $120,000–$140,000. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications. Over time, and subject to performance, tenure, and evolving responsibilities, total compensation for this role may grow to as much as $160,000. Other compensation may include a 10% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus paid out according to policy. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
