We are seeking an attorney to support the growing Small Business Bank and to advise the leadership on the Small Business Bank's most strategic and complex initiatives. In this role, you will form a strategic partnership with senior leaders and help shape the future of Capital One Small Business Bank, which is dedicated to supporting the growth and success of small businesses and their owners.

This position will have responsibility for:
- Strategic Counseling: Act as a thought partner to business clients, providing proactive, business-minded legal advice.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess legal risks associated with our lending and deposit products, ensuring we balance innovation with compliance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with the Business Risk Office, Compliance, and other Legal stakeholders to develop creative solutions and resolve issues.
- Navigating Complexity: Master the full landscape of relevant laws and apply them to novel problem solving for new technology and data.
Who You Are:

Basic Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
- At least 4 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm environment, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate, or as in-house counsel
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience with consumer finance laws and regulations
- 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry
- Experience in advising small businesses or commercial clients, or a combination
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence others
- 6+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm environment, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate, or as in-house counsel
