Description:The Senior Manager responsible for Employment Law Compliance will manage and lead the enterprise's investigations for both internal and external complaints relating to Lockheed Martin's compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and regulations, as well as lead a centralized function to support the company's defense of agency charges filed in federal, state, and local agencies. The Senior Manager will actively lead team members conducting investigations, responding to agency charges and complaints, and assisting with litigation and other actions for which the Employment Law COE is responsible. It is imperative that the individual selected for this role have experience managing employment law matters from their inception as internal or external complaints through the agency process and potentially into litigation. This role will not be responsible for overseeing litigation but will play a key part in supporting the attorneys responsible for that function. The Senior Manager will also develop trend analyses and partner with internal stakeholders in legal, the Business Areas, and HR to implement appropriate corrective actions when needed.This position requires an understanding of the application of equal employment opportunity laws, regulations, concepts, and practices. The selected candidate must have experience conducting internal and external investigations, defending employers in state and federal agency processes, and litigating employment law matters in state and/or federal courts. Responsibilities include leading a team of enterprise wide employment law compliance specialists, conducting analyses to identify trends, and making recommendations to potentially reduce complaints and mitigate risks. This position will require travel.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Lead a team of employment law compliance specialists responsible for conducting impartial, thorough, and timely investigations of complaints, responding to agency charges, and supporting litigation when necessary
- Conduct thorough and complete investigations to include, race, ethnicity, religion, color, sex, national origin, age, US military veteran status, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, family structure, genetic information or mental or physical disability, as well as compliance with other internal and external requirements. These will range from routine to complex and include interviewing company personnel as a neutral fact finder, reviewing personnel documents, and analyzing employee data in a timely manner. *Prepare written reports and summaries of findings, with supporting documentation, that are fair, impartial and represent the facts.
- Write Position Statements for submission to external agencies.
- Provide Information to and attend discipline review committee meetings to provide investigation findings when necessary
- Liaise with Business Area leads and HR to convey any findings resulting from investigations
- Manage centrally, all internal and external employment law-related investigations, complaints, inquiries and charges across the enterprise
- Responsible for responding to external inquiries and charges relating to employment law compliance
- Conduct research and analysis to provide insight into legal trends as they relates to internal and external employment law-related concerns
- Manage selection, performance, and development of direct reports.
This position can be located at any major Lockheed Martin facility.
Basic Qualifications:
- J.D. degree
- Proven leadership experience
- Experience defending employers in administrative agencies and state and/or federal courts in employment law matters
- Knowledge of principles and practices of investigation and research, including interview techniques, principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting, research techniques, and data collection
- Familiarity with federal, state and local laws, as well as court decisions and trends, regarding discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
- Critical thinking and the ability to analyze large amounts of information to interpret laws and internal policies applying them to various situations
- Experience conducting complex internal investigations
- Experience preparing well written investigative reports with supporting documentation
- Experience collecting, analyzing and interpreting information received from investigations
- Ability to direct and train others on investigations and/or reviewing others' investigations to ensure that investigations are objective, thorough and timely
- Proven experience in collaborating, teaming and working in a virtual team setting
- Exercises sound judgment in safeguarding confidential and sensitive information
- Performs detailed work with accuracy
- Must be able to travel as required

Ability to Work Remotely:Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules:Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position:4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $184,100 - $324,530. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
