Schomer Law Group is a trust, estate and probate firm in El Segundo with a growing litigation practice led by a founder who has tried more than 70 cases. We are looking for a senior litigation attorney who wants real caseload responsibility, the courtroom work that comes with it, and a long-term stake in what we are building.What you will do:
You will carry your own caseload of contested trust, estate, probate, conservatorship and fiduciary matters, from the first petition through trial. That means drafting petitions, objections, motions and discovery, taking and defending depositions, handling mediations and settlement talks, and appearing at hearings and trials in the Los Angeles County probate courts. You will have the backing of a founder who still tries cases, and as you grow, you will help mentor our newer litigators and take on a larger role in the practice.
What you bring:
- California bar admission in good standing
- 5 to 10 years of civil litigation experience, with an emphasis on trust, estate and probate litigation
- Experience as lead counsel on depositions, motions, mediations and hearings, and trial experience if you have it
- Strong writing, sound judgment and the ability to build trust with clients and families
- Familiarity with the Probate Code. Conservatorship, real property or tax experience is a plus.
