Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced litigation lawyer with a broad litigation background (substantive legal issues, proceedings, and venues, including experience with appearing before courts and other tribunals). The position is responsible for managing cases and disputes, including general liability, commercial contract, employment, competition-related, environmental and intellectual property liability claims and lawsuits, from inception to trial and appeal or settlement, and collaborates with outside counsel on case strategies and budget management. The successful candidate must be able to identify and lead litigation strategies, and when called upon, advocate for and represent the company in such matters. The position will focus primarily on domestic matters, with opportunities to work on non-U.S matters. The position reports to the Deputy General Counsel for Litigation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic counseling to clients on matters related to existing litigations and disputes, litigation avoidance, and otherwise
  • Lead internal investigations
  • Counsel clients on proactive measures to reduce and control legal exposure
  • Responsible for case budgets and forecasts and management of outside counsel
  • Role in corporate risk review process, tied to accounting and disclosure responsibilities
  • Develop strong, strategic relationships with clients
  • Represent NCR in mediations and before courts and other tribunals
  • Manage electronic discovery aspects of cases
  • Work directly with vendors on negotiation of contracts and management of support

Qualifications:
Experience:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • 5+ years of related experience in a law firm, which must include hands-on litigation experience, including substantive roles in trials or arbitrations
  • Knowledge of privilege issues relevant to in-house practice
  • Excellent judgment and ability to work independently, including demonstrated ability to be a self-starter
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Superior legal and business writing skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with electronic discovery protocols and litigation technology
  • Ability to manage large number of outside counsel
  • Ability to conduct and direct legal research
  • Willing to learn in a fast-paced environment and on a large number of matters at any given time
  • Member of the Georgia bar or be eligible to practice as an in-house attorney in Georgia
