Ice Miller is seeking a senior-level Commercial Litigation Associate to join our Litigation Practice Group, preferably in our Indianapolis office. Ideal candidates will have five (5) to eight (8) years of experience, a strong interest in leading cases, managing teams, and contributing to strategic case development and execution.In this position, you will:
- Handle all aspects of litigation: initial assessment, pleadings, discovery strategy, motion practice, depositions, trial and/or oral advocacy
- Supervise less experienced associates and paralegals, assisting with their development and training
- Collaborate with partners in business development and client relationship management, reflecting the firm's entrepreneurial approach to partnering with clients
- Lead fact investigation efforts: interviews, records review, e‑discovery
- Manage complex business disputes in federal and state courts, and before arbitration panels
- Draft pleadings, briefs, motions, and written strategies
- Engage in strategic depositions and witness preparation
- Coordinate experts and manage large case dockets
- Serve as a trusted advisor to sophisticated clients: general counsel, executives, boards, and other stakeholders
- Join pitch teams, contribute to presentations and proposals, and support continued client engagement
- Demonstrate quality control and awareness of cost-effective legal service
- Have a clear path for advancement and active encouragement to participate in business development
Requirements:
- J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
- At least five (5) years of experience practicing law in a law firm and in-house environment
- Active law license in Indiana
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills and business judgement
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States
