Role and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of litigation and quasi-litigation disputes, including pre-litigation dispute resolution; reviewing discovery and other litigation requests; preparing witnesses for testimony; drafting and reviewing pleadings, briefs, correspondence, and other court documents; negotiating settlements; and providing advice and recommendations to senior management, business colleagues, and other litigation team members.
  • Manage outside counsel and legal budgets.
  • Develop and implement legal strategy through coordination with business clients.
  • Communicate with business clients regularly to provide updates on litigation progress and outcomes.
  • Analyze legal risk and identify mitigation options to reduce exposure to legal liabilities.
  • Manage responses to third-party subpoenas and government inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with any regulatory obligations, including the Consumer Product Safety Act.
  • Represent Samsung in court proceedings and other legal forums, including mediation, court conferences, and product inspections.
  • Oversee the management of internal, SEA administrative functions.

Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience in litigation with at least 2+ years of law firm experience.
  • J.D. from a top U.S., accredited law school.
  • Admission to at least one state bar and be in good standing.
  • Knowledge and experience with the following substantive areas: consumer class actions, commercial litigation, and product liability.
  • Experience managing pre-trial phases of litigation, including motion practice, coordinating and responding to discovery requests, managing discovery, and preparing witnesses for testimony.
  • Experience drafting, editing and supervising legal writing at all stages of litigation.
  • Prior in-house experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with home appliances and consumer electronics is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to solve complex legal challenges.
  • Possess high quality research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Highly efficient and organized.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently, including when handling multiple tasks simultaneously, either as a team or while working independently.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail, but also the ability to identify critical aspects of a task or project, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness, while efficiently filtering out unnecessary information.
  • Effectively collaborate with other legal and business colleagues in a complex, geographically dispersed organization.
  • Communicate effectively and concisely.
