Description:
The Senior Counsel, Labor and Employment Law is responsible for providing expert legal advice to human resources professionals and business leaders within the North American region on matters relating to all aspects of state and federal labor and employment law to ensure compliance with the Company's legal obligations while supporting the Company's business goals. The Senior Counsel will also represent the company's interests in administrative employment-related complaints and investigations, Alternative Dispute Resolution proceedings, and other adversarial proceedings.What you can look forward to as the Senior Legal Counsel:
- Representing the company in administrative proceedings (EEOC, NLRB, DOL, and similar agencies).
- Supporting and representing the company in mediation and arbitration, including labor arbitrations.
- Offering legal guidance and drafting support for collective bargaining negotiations and labor relations strategy.
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and deliver proactive guidance.
- Reviewing and supporting workforce actions such as reductions in force and facility closures.
- Advising on employment policies and leading or supporting workplace investigations.
- Managing outside counsel, supporting compliance initiatives, and contributeing to continuous improvement efforts.
- Providing timely legal advice on federal, state, and local labor and employment laws.
Your Profile as Senior Legal Counsel:
- Law Degree from an ABA-accredited institution
- Licensed to practice law in appropriate jurisdiction(s)
- 5+ years of experience as a practicing labor and employment attorney for private sector clients
- In-depth familiarity with all aspects of employment discrimination law and labor law
- Demonstrated track record of ability to work independently and provide legal guidance to human resources professionals and other management with decisiveness and diplomacy
- Proven knowledge and ability in methods of communication, motivation, negotiation, and conflict management skills with a high level of initiative and drive
- Proven ability to create and deliver organized, effective, persuasive and engaging presentations
- Proven ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and work in a cross-functional/team environment
- Technologically proficient with the established ability to utilize existing and emerging digital tools in daily legal practice
- Ability/willingness to travel domestically and internationally
