In addition to our commercial real estate efforts, we also evaluate company acquisitions primarily in the greater Nashville, TN area.The Opportunity:
TechnologyAdvice and The 615 Group are hiring a practical, business-minded legal leader to serve as the primary in-house legal advisor across a portfolio of businesses, including TechnologyAdvice, 615 Ventures, and Woolworth Theatre.
This is a hands-on role for an attorney who enjoys working closely with the business, advising executives, solving practical problems, and helping teams move quickly while managing risk. You'll partner directly with leadership and cross-functional teams on commercial contracts, employment matters, M&A activity, disputes, compliance, privacy, IP, and governance.
We're looking for someone who can provide clear, practical guidance, manage outside counsel effectively, and continue improving the AI-enabled legal workflows, templates, and playbooks already in place. This role offers direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to help shape how legal supports a fast-moving group of founder-led businesses.
Success in this role means becoming a trusted legal advisor to leadership and key business stakeholders, helping teams move faster through practical, risk-calibrated guidance, stronger legal processes, and effective support across commercial, employment, and corporate matters.

What You'll Do:
- Own and advise on commercial agreements, including customer contracts, vendor agreements, SaaS and technology agreements, NDAs, MSAs, insertion orders, licensing arrangements, and partnership agreements.
- Partner with revenue, finance, operations, product, technology, People Ops, and leadership teams to identify risk and support business decisions.
- Advise on employment-related matters, including restrictive covenants, confidentiality obligations, employee disputes, investigations, terminations, and employment agreements.
- Support M&A and investment activity, including diligence, risk review, deal documentation, governance, post-closing integration, and outside counsel coordination.
- Manage active and potential disputes, vendor issues, customer escalations, employment claims, pre-litigation matters, and outside counsel engagement as needed.
- Advise on compliance, data privacy, intellectual property, confidentiality, and brand protection matters.
- Continue improving legal workflows, templates, playbooks, and AI-enabled legal processes.
Who You Are:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and an active Tennessee law license, or ability and commitment to become licensed in Tennessee promptly.
- Approximately 7+ years of relevant legal experience, including in-house or law firm experience advising companies on commercial, employment, corporate, M&A, or business dispute matters.
- Strong commercial contract drafting, review, and negotiation experience, with the ability to advise executives and operators in clear, practical language.
- Comfortable serving as the primary in-house legal resource while effectively managing outside counsel and knowing when to escalate specialized matters.
- Strong judgment, ownership, responsiveness, prioritization, and ability to make practical recommendations in fast-moving environments with incomplete information.
- Experience balancing legal risk with business priorities while helping teams and leadership make smart decisions quickly.
- Interest in improving legal operations through AI-enabled workflows, templates, playbooks, escalation processes, and scalable legal tools.
- Experience in B2B media, SaaS, technology-enabled services, marketing technology, lead generation, private equity-backed companies, founder-led businesses, acquisitive companies, or portfolio company environments is preferred.
- Experience supporting M&A transactions, post-closing integration, employment matters, restrictive covenants, confidentiality obligations, trade secrets, employee disputes, investigations, and outside counsel management is preferred.
- You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy variety, like working closely with operators and executives, take ownership, and are comfortable operating without highly structured workflows or large in-house legal teams.
- Nashville-based candidates are strongly preferred.
