The Role:
As a Senior Legal Counsel (IP Prosecution & Litigation), you will serve as a strategic partner to our engineering and executive teams, providing high-level guidance on patent strategy and the end-to-end litigation lifecycle. You will be responsible for managing a global patent portfolio of over 2,000 matters, overseeing outside counsel in all prosecution efforts while performing strategic analysis to ensure the portfolio aligns with core business priorities. Your role also involves managing outside litigation counsel and technical experts, where you will define settlement strategies and develop processes to improve the efficiency and quality of patent dispute work. You will have the opportunity to provide regular recommendations to the CTO and founder on portfolio direction, litigation activity, and emerging risks in key technology areas. You will also leverage competitive analysis and patent charting to advise technical teams on third-party risks and the strategic value of technical publications. Ultimately, you will bridge the gap between complex legal frameworks and technical execution, ensuring our competitive advantage is both protected and enforceable.

What you will bring:

JD from an ABA-accredited law school and admitted to a U.S. state bar organization for the jurisdiction where the candidate is working and in good standing
Registered and in good standing to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
12+ years of legal experience in patent strategy and patent management in-house at technology companies and/or at major law firms
Prior experience in Computer Sciences, Compute Engineering, Software, Information Systems or related field is preferred
Comfortable and effective in presenting complex information to senior executives including Engineering / Marketing Management and Field GTM / Sales teams
Superior interpersonal and communication skills
Strategic thinking and risk assessment abilities

What you will do:
Prosecution/Portfolio Skills:

Manage patent portfolio of over 2K matters
Ability to do strategic analysis of patent portfolio to align with business priorities
Oversee outside counsel in all prosecution matters - drafting, office actions, appeals, foreign filing decisions, annuities etc.
Conduct competitive analysis on company's patent portfolio

Business & Engineering Advisor

Advise technical/engineering teams on IP risks, 3rd party patents, and publications
Provide regular recommendations to CTO and founder on portfolio direction and strategic investments in key technology areas
Review technical publications and disclosures to align with Everpure's strategy
Litigation/Dispute Skills:
Manage outside litigation counsel, technical experts, and discovery matters
Managing ongoing patent charting on competitors of Everpure's patent portfolio
Provide input on defenses, risk exposure, and settlement strategy
Coordinate technical analysis with internal team
Ability to establish and maintain a process to improve predictability, efficiency, and quality of patent dispute relate work
Provide regular recommendations to CTO and founder on litigation activity and emerging risks

Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations.

This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.

The annual base salary range is:
$205,000 - $328,000 USD
