Correll Law Firm, PC is a prominent Virginia personal injury litigation firm headquartered in Winchester, Virginia. The firm is seeking a highly experienced, writing-focused attorney to serve in a Senior Law Clerk / Litigation Writing role. This position is designed for a licensed Virginia attorney who excels at legal research and drafting and prefers a role centered on written advocacy rather than frequent court appearances.Position Summary:
This is a full-time, fully remote position focused primarily on legal research, drafting, and litigation support. The attorney in this role will work closely with trial counsel to produce high-quality written work, including briefs, motions, and legal memoranda. Court appearances are not a primary responsibility, though the attorney may occasionally be asked to argue a motion or appear in court when needed and on rare occassion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft motions, briefs, memoranda, and other legal filings in civil litigation matters
- Conduct thorough legal research and provide written analysis on procedural and substantive legal issues
- Support trial attorneys with motion practice, case strategy, and legal analysis
- Review pleadings, discovery responses, and filings for legal accuracy and clarity
- Prepare internal legal memoranda and research summaries
- Assist with litigation-related tasks as assigned, including preparation for hearings and trials
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia, in good standing
- Minimum of five (5) years of active legal practice
- Demonstrated experience drafting dispositive motions (e.g., demurrers, pleas in bar, summary judgment) and complex legal memoranda.
- Litigation experience in the Courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia or Federal Courts.
- Ability to "hit the ground running" with a strong working knowledge of Virginia civil procedure.
- Note: This position requires substantive Virginia civil litigation experience. Candidates whose experience is limited solely to administrative law will not be considered.
