As a Senior In-House Counsel (Patents) on the Legal team reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Legal, Risk, and Compliance you will make a positive impact by:
- Lead the global management of Vusion's patent portfolio, including oversight of outside counsel responsible for drafting, prosecuting, filing, and maintaining patent applications across multiple jurisdictions.
- Work with internal stakeholders and leadership to develop and execute patent strategy aligned with Vusion's business objectives, product roadmap, and technology development efforts.
- Manage outside patent counsel, ensuring high-quality work product, cost efficiency, and adherence to internal standards and timelines.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and R&D teams to identify patentable innovations and translate technical concepts into strong intellectual property protection.
- Manage patent lifecycle activities including invention disclosures, portfolio reviews, maintenance fee payments, annuities, and strategic pruning or expansion of the portfolio.
- Monitor global intellectual property law developments and provide guidance on their impact to Vusion's patent strategy and risk posture.
- Assist in developing, updating, and implementing internal patent policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Contribute to broader IP risk management efforts, including competitor monitoring, landscape analysis, and defensive patent strategies.
Qualifications:
Qualifications we're looking for.
Experience:
- 5-9 years of legal experience, including significant experience in patent prosecution and portfolio management, either in-house at a technology company or at a top-tier law firm.
- Experience managing and working directly with outside patent counsel across domestic and international jurisdictions.
- Background supporting technology-driven organizations, with familiarity in hardware, software, or emerging technology patent matters.
- Experience collaborating with engineers, product teams, and business leaders on invention capture and IP strategy.
Skills:
- Ability to manage multiple patent matters simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines;
- Proven ability to exercise sound legal and strategic judgment in complex IP matters;
- Excellent written and verbal communication including the ability to communicate technical and legal concepts to senior leadership and non-legal stakeholders;
- Strong leadership presence with high integrity and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university;
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited university;
- Must have an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
- Must be licensed to practice before the USPTO.
