Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP is seeking a Counsel or Partner-level Energy & Utilities Attorney for our Columbus, Ohio office. This senior role offers the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of Vorys' leading energy and utilities practice. We welcome candidates who have experience managing and expanding client relationships and who thrive in a collaborative team environment.Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal counsel on Ohio energy and utility matters, including regulatory, transactional, and competitive market issues.
- Represent clients before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) and other relevant agencies.
- Draft, review, and negotiate energy contracts and transactional documents.
- Manage and expand existing client relationships, contributing to the growth of the practice and ensuring continuity and exceptional service.
- Engage with industry organizations to maintain thought leadership and stay current on regulatory developments.
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience with energy and Ohio utility matters. Candidates with comparable experience outside Ohio will be considered, with relocation.
- Extensive experience representing clients before the PUCO in a variety of matters.
- Strong knowledge of the Ohio competitive energy market and related transactional matters.
- Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with Ohio telecommunications regulatory matters is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage and grow client relationships.
- Energetic candidates who can hit the ground running are preferred.
- Eligible for Counsel or Partner-level placement based on experience and client relationships.
