Overall Job Summary
This position is primarily responsible for supporting the effective and efficient management of TSC's docket of U.S. commercial and other litigation, including handling pre-suit matters, setting litigation strategy, oversight of outside counsel, and mediation and resolution of claims in single-plaintiff and class/collective action cases. In addition, this role will also periodically provide support to Tractor Supply's Legal Corporate and Technology practice with transactional matters related to general contracts, ecommerce, privacy, and technology and general corporate related matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
  • Providing effective counsel to the business as it related to commercial, small claims and other litigation, including but not limited to, helping to identify litigation trends and prevention, engaging in case risk and settlement analysis, and assisting with the preparation of quarterly and annual litigation related reports.
  • Assist legal management in the development of policies and procedures to mitigate corporate risk and internal training on same.
  • Coordinate and direct case strategy, edit pleadings and discovery and assist with preparation of witnesses for depositions.
  • Respond to attorney letters and pre-suit correspondence.
  • Assist stakeholders with subpoena responses and processes.
  • Provide legal research on a variety of issues.
  • Assist with identifying, assessing and pursuing claims and affirmative recoveries, when necessary.
  • Support the other department members, as needed with discovery and other legal projects, document review, legal research and business projects.

Required Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of law firm, in-house or other relevant litigation experience.

Education: Juris Doctor degree.

Professional Certifications: Licensed member of a state bar in good standing.

  • Strong legal research capabilities, including the ability to investigate issues, compare alternative courses of action and move to decision-making.
  • First chair experience negotiating settlements and mediating claims with opposing counsel
  • Ability to solve complex legal issues and apply broad principles
  • Ability to think strategically and proactively and quickly identify legal risks and solutions.
  • Ability to identify appropriate and cost effective outside counsel and manage their efforts.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build strong partner and interdepartmental relationships and contribute to committees and group efforts.
