The Global Regulatory Legal group at BASF Agricultural Solutions provides strategic legal leadership on federal, state and international laws governing pesticides and products of biotechnology. The group also provides advice concerning laws and regulations governing trade standards like import tolerances and residue levels, and manages regulatory data cooperation and compensation.
We are seeking an experienced professional like you to join our team as a senior leader responsible for advising BASF's Agricultural Solutions functions in the US and Canada on critical regulatory, litigation and policy matters affecting them, overseeing high-impact risk areas and driving the global regulatory legal strategy. This position will report to the Head of Global Regulatory Legal.

- Providing targeted legal advice and strategic guidance to the Regulatory Affairs and Regulatory Science units within BASF Agricultural Solutions North America and Canada, in connection with authorizations for and regulation of both crop protection products and seed and trait products, as well as handle FIFRA data compensation.
- Advising on compliance with regulatory requirements governing BASF Agricultural Solutions' portfolio of conventional and biological pesticides and pest control products, agricultural seed treatments, and seeds with biotech traits, among others, subject to a wide variety of US and Canadian laws, in support of obtaining new product approvals, addressing related operational incidents, asserting confidentiality claims, conducting investigations and voluntary disclosures of potential regulatory deviations, and defending the company against enforcement claims.
- Proactively collaborating in the Global Regulatory Legal group supporting BASF Agricultural Solutions in its strategic positioning in the US and Canada and in other regions countries in alignment with the Global Regulatory Legal License-to-Operate (LTO) strategy. You will further represent BASF Agricultural Solutions in law committees of product regulatory – related trade associations in the US.
- Advising, integrating, and supporting litigation and disputes over BASF Agricultural Solutions' LTO, including FIFRA data compensation proceedings, as well as providing early alerts regarding anticipated potential litigation risks to product authorizations arising under North American pesticide laws, including endangered species, and seeds and traits laws.
- Reviewing and commenting on advertising material for agricultural solutions products to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards, and drafting and reviewing product regulatory provisions in transactional documents, including stock and asset purchase and sale agreements, agreements for the purchase or sale of goods or services, confidentiality agreements, and material transfer agreements.
- Have a Juris Doctorate degree and an active license to practice law in at least one US state orof the District of Columbia.
- Possess at least 15 years' expertise in a law firm, corporation, or regulatory authority focused on US pesticide and plant biotech law.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the US agricultural industry and agricultural solutions business.
- Display exceptional and effective written and oral communications skills and excellent ability to teamwork.
