What you'll doWe are looking for an experienced public sector lawyer to help build and lead Docusign's government and public sector legal practice. You will support our efforts to bring Intelligent Agreement Management to government agencies, building the relationships and closing the deals that put IAM to work in the public sector. You will partner with go-to-market, product, engineering, and security teams to move our agreements with government customers and prime contractors efficiently and correctly, and to protect the trust that makes the platform worth adopting. This is an individual contributor role with real ownership. You will be the person the business turns to on public sector deals, and you will define the playbooks, templates, and positions that let the rest of the team move faster.
This position is an individual contributor role reporting to Senior Director & Deputy General Counsel - Product Engineering, IP and Partner.
Responsibility
- Advise product, engineering, and security teams on how public sector and AI governance requirements land in IAM, from authorization boundaries to authentication, evidence, and the integrity of the agreement record
- Build the practice, develop the templates, positions, and training that let legal and cross-functional teams handle routine public sector work without waiting on you for every question
- Partner with go-to-market and cross-functional teams on public sector opportunities, advising on procurement processes, proposals, and strategy for bringing IAM to federal, state, and local agencies

What you bring:
Basic
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction
- 8+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience
- Experience negotiating complex agreements with federal, state, and/or local government customers and prime contractors
- Experience with government procurement regimes, including the FAR, DFARS, and related contracting regulations and processes
- Experience with the compliance frameworks that govern government cloud, such as FedRAMP and DoD Impact Levels
- Experience advising businesses on selling into government, including go-to-market and procurement strategy
Preferred:
- Prior government service
- Experience with AI or AI governance
- Track record supporting go-to-market and sales teams
- Experience solving hard problems with a close-knit team
