Job Summary:
The person filling this position will be a team member of the Employment, Benefits and Labor group of the Entergy Legal Department (“EBL”), and the specific role available is for an experienced ERISA and employee benefits and compensation lawyer with ERISA, Tax and employee benefits experience

Work Location:
The designated work location for the position is at the New Orleans corporate headquarters building, 22nd floor, and the successful candidate also may have a telecommuting work location as approved by the supervisor. The position requires reporting to, and working from, the designated work location as the supervisor may direct, which currently is anticipated to be onsite at least 3-4 days per week, depending on the position level of Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel. The supervisor has the sole discretion to change the position from hybrid to full-time onsite at any time and for any reason.

Job Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Ability to Work as An Integral Member of The Ebl Team and To Perform Well in Team-Oriented Environments
  • Broad-Based Knowledge of Erisa and Federal Tax Laws Relating to Employee Benefits and Employee Benefit Plans, Equity Plans and Arrangements, Compensation, Including Deferred Compensation Arrangements, Executive Compensation Agreements, and Internal Revenue Code Section 409 A
  • Significant Experience in Providing Legal Advice Regarding Employee Welfare and Retirement Plan Matters, Including Defined Benefit Plans, Cash Balance Pension Plans, Defined Contribution Plans, Non-Qualified Plans, Cafeteria Plans, Group Health Plans, Disability and Life Insurance Plans, and Equity and Incentive Compensation Plans
  • Significant Experience in Drafting Employee Benefit Plan Documents, Including Employee Welfare Benefit Plans, Such as Cafeteria Plans, Group Health Plans, Disability and Life Insurance Plans, and Employee Pension Plans, Such as Defined Benefit Plans, Cash Balance Pension Plans, Defined Contribution Plans, and Non-Qualified Plans, Equity and Incentive Compensation Plans, and Employment and Executive Compensation Agreements, as Well as Drafting Summary Plan Descriptions and Other Employee Communications
  • Excellent Communication Skills and Ability to Comfortably Communicate and Collaborate with Others at All Levels of The Organization, Including Executive Management and Individual Contributors
  • Strong Writing and Analytical Skills, and The Ability to Manage Multiple Projects in A Fast-Paced Environment
  • Ability to Communicate Complicated Compensation and Benefits Advice to Human Resources Personnel and Others Across the Enterprise in A Clear and Understandable Manner
  • Assist with Employee Compensation and Benefits Aspects of Mergers, Acquisition, Divestitures, Joint Ventures, Etc.
  • Strong Work Ethic; Keen Attention to Detail; Strong Interpersonal Skills; and Excellent Academic Credentials
  • Ability to Work Independently, with Minimal Direction

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Experience and Education Required
Counsel Sr: 6+ Years of Experience in Erisa and Employee Benefit Plans Compliance and Drafting Is Required; Prior Employment at A Nationally Recognized Law Firm Is a Plus; 8+ Years Preferred

Asst General Counsel: 9+ Years of Experience in Erisa and Employee Benefit Plans Compliance and Drafting Is Required; Prior Employment at A Nationally Recognized Law Firm Is a Plus; 10+ Years Preferred

Juris Doctor Degree Is Required
  • Masters of Law in Taxation from An Accredited Law School Is a Plus
  • Membership in Good Standing of A State Bar with No Prior Suspensions or Disciplinary History

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Regular and Reliable Attendance at Work During Scheduled Hours and Availability to Work Overtime Hours as Needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
  • Must Be Well Organized and Detail-Oriented
