Position Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Counsel, Litigation & Regulatory Law, the Senior Counsel, Litigation will manage commercial and employment litigation and disputes for the Company.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, business torts, subpoena responses, and other complex litigation issues.
  • Manage employment-related litigation, such as FLSA class actions and restrictive covenant litigation, as well as EEOC matters, in conjunction with Labor & Employment team.
  • Handle disputes in a proactive manner and anticipate and mitigate risks to achieve the best result for the Company.
  • Select and manage outside counsel efficiently while maximizing value and develop innovative models to budgeting legal spend.
  • Advise business leaders on litigation lessons learned, including regarding compliance with federal and state laws and best practices for internal policies and procedures.
  • Provide clear, prompt, solution-oriented legal guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Report on litigation risk and reserves as part of the Company's financial disclosure process.

Job Requirements:
  • Illinois licensed attorney with at least five to seven (5-7) years' litigation experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department, with a focus on commercial disputes.
  • Substantial experience handling complex commercial litigation; experience in employment-related litigation or agency matters is a plus.
  • Work independently with general supervision and direction from the Chief Counsel, Litigation and Regulatory Law in furtherance of department goals and the strategic plan.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment handling multiple competing tasks simultaneously to closure.
  • Outstanding advocacy, presentation, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, self-disciplined and team-oriented.
