CECO Environmental Corp. is seeking a seasoned legal professional to join the Legal Team. This role will provide strategic legal counsel across commercial transactions, employment matters, and corporate compliance. The ideal candidate will have expertise in employment law, risk management, and policy development, with a strong ability to collaborate across departments and jurisdictions.

Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Commercial & Corporate Legal Support
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, partners, and suppliers.
  • Provide legal advice on strategic initiatives and operational practices.
  • Conduct legal due diligence and support corporate transactions.
  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local laws impacting Company operations.
  • Support corporate governance initiatives, including board and committee matters.
  • Advise on environmental, social, and governance matters, including policy development, regulatory compliance, and integration into governance and risk frameworks.

Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Draft, update, and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Design, implement and oversee comprehensive employee compliance training.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop compliance strategies and training programs.
  • Support broader corporate governance and compliance initiatives.

Employment Law & HR Support
  • Advise on labor and employment matters including compensation, recruiting, leave, benefits, and immigration.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment and separation agreements.
  • Conduct internal investigations into allegations of unlawful behavior.
  • Vet proposed terminations and advise on layoffs or reductions in force.
  • Provide strategic guidance on HR policies, training, and workplace best practices.
  • Manage employment litigation and coordinate with external counsel.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with business units, HR, and global stakeholders to align legal strategy with business goals.
  • Advise on emerging legal and industry trends impacting operations and services.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school; active membership in good standing with a U.S. State Bar.
  • 10+ years of legal experience, including in-house corporate counsel.
  • Subject matter expertise in federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Working knowledge of international employment issues and immigration.
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors is an asset.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations is highly valued.
  • Strong drafting, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
  • Enthusiasm for positive and respectful relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Arrangement:
  • This role will be primarily in-office Monday through Thursday for the first 3–6 months, with the option to work from home on Fridays. After the initial period, we will review the possibility of adding an additional remote work day per week.

  • Work Environment: This position is based in a remote, home-office setting. The role requires a dedicated workspace with reliable internet access and a quiet environment conducive to focused work. The candidate must be self-motivated and able to manage boundaries between work and personal life effectively. Minimal physical requirements, primarily computer use, and communication via virtual platforms, are necessary. Flexibility to adapt to occasional scheduled video meetings and collaborative tasks is essential.
  • Physical Demands: Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job.
