Description:
The Senior Counsel will be an important member of the Legal and Compliance Department, providing direct support to the Company's Biologics business which has multiple sites across the globe and provides cell, gene, plasmid, drug substance, drug product, and bioanalytic services to customers around the world. The Senior Counsel will be responsible for negotiating and documenting many types of commercial contracts and licenses on an international basis. From time to time, this may include legal advice and support on contract interpretation, business disputes, intellectual property, personnel matters, and real estate issues, as well as legal training for the commercial sales function. The attorney will liaise as needed with other support and business functions to resolve issues efficiently.Our Bridgewater location is the corporate office for Catalent.
The Role:
- Draft, review, analyze, structure and negotiate terms and conditions, master service agreements, commercial supply agreement, and related licenses for research and development, clinical supply manufacturing, and commercial supply manufacturing
- Advise regional personnel with respect to compliance policies, customer and vendor relations, contract matters, regulatory issues
- Assist in merger and acquisition activity
- Assist in corporate governance activity
- Provide general advice to senior management of the region and other regional managers on a day-to-day basis
- Special assignments and projects
- Provide advice and guidance for the accomplishment of the overall business objectives in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Provide informed cost-benefit analysis when identifying risks
- Develop a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the business and its people, products, technology, markets, facilities, customers, and competitors to identify trends and formulate business and legal structures and strategies accordingly
- Other duties as assigned
The Candidate:
- Juris Doctor degree from accredited law school, required
- Able to practice (to the extent required) as an in-house lawyer in New Jersey
- Minimum of three years of transactional/commercial law experience with a combination of large law firms and/or in-house pharmaceutical experience
- Solid judgment, particularly in determining the significance of legal matters and when to elevate them to more senior department personnel and in effectively measuring and mitigating risks
- Strong organizational skills in order to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive projects
- Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds
Pay:
New Jersey Posting
The anticipated salary range for this position in New Jersey is $136,890 - $209,200, plus bonus, when eligible. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
