Team Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join our Office of the General Counsel with specialized experience in employment law and data privacy and protection. This role will serve as a strategic legal advisor on complex workforce matters, data compliance issues, and other legal representation matters, supporting our mission-driven organization in maintaining the highest standards of legal and ethical compliance, across our global organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist General Counsel in leading efforts to provide core legal services to ADF and its subsidiary entities.
- Provide strategic legal counsel on all aspects of the employment lifecycle, including compliance with global, state, and federal laws and regulations; conduct internal investigations; draft and negotiate employment-related agreements and policies; advise on compensation practices; and provide relevant legal support to HR, leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Manage litigation and disputes directly or indirectly involving ADF corporate entities or officers as parties, including employment-related matters, working with outside counsel, as appropriate.
- Advise on data privacy, protection, and security matters to ensure global compliance.
- Proactively protect ADF corporate entities from legal and non-legal threats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, IT, Finance, Development, and program teams.
- Provide training to team members in relevant areas.
- Interact with outside counsel, as necessary.
- Stay current on legal developments affecting the ministry and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
- Handle special projects assigned by the General Counsel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D., active license in at least one US state bar, and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction within one year
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to travel overnight and international travel, as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-house experience and big law background
- Global employment law experience
- Experience in international regulatory law
