As Senior Corporate Counsel – Technology & Commercial, you will be part of a highly collaborative, innovative and inclusive legal team that delivers world-class legal services to our company and our business partners. You will help drive our business strategy and guide the Company in making smart and consistent decisions align with our values.
Reporting to the Senior Director - Commercial, the role will focus primarily on advising Clorox's Enterprise Data & Technology organization, supporting IT/SaaS and other technology agreements. This role will also have responsibility for supporting additional commercial agreements including direct (such raw materials, co-packing and logistics) procurement, and indirect (such as marketing, professional services) procurement agreements. You will work closely and independently with senior business leaders. In addition, this role will support marketing and marketing technology transactions as well as other professional services arrangements.
In this role, you will:
- Negotiate, advise, and counsel senior leaders on a variety transaction-related matters including contract risk mitigations, enterprise implications and proactive solutioning.
- Play a lead legal role on a wide variety of commercial and technology transactions, and advise both senior business and Legal leaders on enterprise-wide impacts and risks.
- Support the Company's technology transformation goals and special projects, as needed.
- Develop and implement legal training for business and procurement teams.
- Help business partners on a variety of legal questions.
- Support Company's contracting practices through cross-functional critical initiatives.
What we look for:
- BA/BS and JD required.
- 5-10 years of proven experience as an attorney at a well-respected law firm and/or in-house law team for large companies.
- Required to be a member of the California State Bar or eligible to register under the California State Bar in-house counsel program.
- Demonstrated capability to communicate with senior business leaders on complex legal risks, clear identification of solutions and key elements of complex commercial transactions.
- Ability to work autonomously and independently, with capability to identify key issues for escalation.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex technology and commercial agreements.
- Experience handling various projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment with proven skills in prioritizing tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to transform sophisticated information into clear, concise and actionable communications for senior business and legal partners.
- Be highly adaptable to work with different teams.
- Can-do attitude; approach work and colleagues with a goal-oriented mindset.
- Proven ability to build great relationships with business partners, including developing and leveraging strong networks to drive business goals.
- Versatility to advise across a broad range of commercial workstreams and connect the dots between cross-functional areas.
- Curiosity about proactively streamlining legal team processes and procedures to best help an evolving business.
Hybrid: This individual will work in the Oakland office at least 3 days a week.
