Description:Key Responsibilities:
- As Sr. Corporate Counsel, you will generally support the federal, and potentially some state, regulatory functions of MISO, which may include:
- Researching and drafting filings for submission to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
- Reviewing, interpreting, and revising the MISO Tariff and Business Practices Manuals.
- Reviewing, interpreting, and advising on laws, rulings, and regulations.
- Collaborating and partnering with varied business personnel to evaluate, support, and further business objectives.
- Collaborate with other employees to ensure effective communication, operational excellence, and a high level of customer service, both with internal and external stakeholders.
- Networking and influencing to solve problems and shape outcomes to meet business objectives.
- Providing general legal support to internal subject matter experts, including risk identification and providing solutions for risk mitigation.
- Attending stakeholder meetings and providing real-time legal insights.
- Assisting with state regulatory matters as required.
- Contributing to special projects as required in the regulatory space.
What We're Looking For:
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in any U.S. state or D.C. (Must obtain Arkansas, Indiana, and/or Minnesota licensure, as applicable, within 18 months of hire.)
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience required
- Experience in utility, energy, or regulatory law (FERC or state utility experience preferred).
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory documents and draft clear, persuasive communications and filings.
- Ability to professionally exercise discretion and independent judgement in day-to-day work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Experience with regulatory litigation at the state or federal level not required but welcomed.
- Independently making FERC filings within the first year.
- Earning the trust of internal teams as a go-to legal advisor.
- Demonstrating adaptability, initiative, and a collaborative spirit.

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $179,000-204,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
