About the role:
A Consultant in New York City, New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to join our growing global legal team as Senior Corporate Counsel, reporting directly to our VP, Head of Legal. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate governance, commercial matters and partnerships, intellectual property (including trademarks and patents), employment, litigation, fundraising, tax, audit, and legal operations. Interest and experience in digital assets and blockchain technology is a plus.

What you will be doing:
  • Advise on cutting edge and emerging legal issues as a core member of a growing and dynamic legal department.
  • Work alongside other departments across the company, including Finance, Compliance, HR, Product, and Engineering.
  • Negotiate, draft, and advise on commercial contracts and partnership agreements, including service provider agreements, index licenses, technology agreements, distribution agreements, customer contracts, vendor contracts, software licenses, consultancy agreements, and marketing agreements.
  • Work directly with internal and external clients in the contract negotiation process including ensuring that sales and the business comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and company policies.
  • Oversee employment-related matters.
  • Supervise external litigations and disputes.
  • Manage the Company's broad intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and licensing agreements.
  • Strategically oversee the operations of the Legal Department, including contract management, billing, and due diligence.

Desired Qualifications:
  • A commercially minded, passionate, and fully qualified attorney admitted to practice in the US, United Kingdom, or Europe.
  • 6+ years experience practicing law, preferably with in-house or start up experience.
  • Comfortable in dealing with various commercial law matters, including commercial contract negotiations, drafting and reviewing.
  • Familiar with performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • A high level of understanding of processes, policies and key relationships, with an ability to monitor, design and continuously improve processes.
  • Good knowledge of the wider financial industry.
  • Interest in digital assets and blockchain technology is a plus, though it is not required for the role.

This role is based in New York City or London and will be expected to work from our office in a hybrid model Monday - Wednesday.
