The Opportunity:
As A Membership-Based Primary Care Practice continues to expand our ability to provide innovative and human-centered primary care for all, the teams supporting that growth are expanding as well. We are seeking to hire an experienced health care attorney to support business development goals. Reporting to the Managing/Senior Corporate Counsel, this role will round out a dynamic and growing legal team, serving as subject matter expert for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various strategic agreements and complex transactions. This role will provide regulatory guidance on various healthcare-related issues with a focus on Anti-kickback Statute (and related state statutes), Stark Law, Civil Monetary Penalties Law, and develop compliant solutions to to facilitate and promote A Membership-Based Primary Care Practice's business objectives, including value-based care, care coordination, and clinical integration. The role will serve as a highly visible leader within the organization, working across verticals, developing trusting relationships, adeptly guiding and advising key stakeholders.

What you'll likely work on:
  • Drafting, negotiating and administering contracts involving A Membership-Based Primary Care Practice customers, employers, health system partners, network providers, payors, third party administrators, employers and vendors
  • Provide regulatory and strategic guidance to internal clients, particularly the Commercial Contracting and Payor Contracting Teams
  • Work closely with growth team leaders to develop new business opportunities or solve strategic problems, delivering hands-on contracting and counseling guidance, with a strong solution-oriented mindset
  • Developing, implementing, and improving contracting and business processes for the company, with an emphasis on standardization and scalability that enables our business partners to move nimbly
  • Counsel business partners and other stakeholders on dispute resolution strategies related to payor, network or other strategic arrangements
  • Expertly manage deals of varying complexity and subject to regulatory regimes
  • Help grow the legal team or your skills to meet emerging opportunities and risks

What You'll Need:
  • 8+ years of experience negotiating and drafting commercial agreements (including partnership agreements, managed care service agreements, participating provider agreements, program incentive agreements, provider network agreements revenue/sales contracts, and vendor agreements in the healthcare space).
  • Juris Doctor and a member in good standing of a state bar association (or Registered In House Counsel with the CA Bar)
  • Experience working cross-functionally in an in-house environment, supporting multiple stakeholders while advancing company priorities
  • Health care regulatory knowledge focusing on Fraud, Waste, and Abuse; knowledge of Value-based care, Medicare Advantage Organizations, ACO REACH and MSSP programs is required
  • Experience working at or with provider-facing healthcare companies or health plans
  • Demonstrated ability to work under competing deadlines and adjust responsibilities in response to recalibrated business needs
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort providing business and legal advice.
  • Adept working independently in a fast-paced environment

Not required, but a plus if you have:
MPP/MPH or other advanced degree in health care policy or administration with your finger on the pulse of federal legislative/regulatory health care trends and proposed changes
