We're looking for an experienced and collaborative Senior Compliance Counsel to join our team. You Will:

Provide strategic legal advice and guidance on a broad range of compliance issues, including telemarketing, identity verification, fraud prevention, registered agent and CMRA operations.
Develop, implement and monitor internal policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure organizational compliance.
Apply excellent legal and business judgment in performing risk assessments and audits to identify and size potential compliance gaps.
Stay abreast of evolving legal and regulatory landscapes relevant to LegalZoom's operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and fulfillment to assist the company with meeting its compliance obligations.
Contribute to other legal department goals and duties as needed.

You Have:

A JD from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing to practice law.
A minimum of 6 years of legal experience, including at least 2 years advising on compliance issues at a leading law firm. In-house experience is preferred.
Experience in developing and implementing compliance programs.
Strong research skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized. Ability to guide projects from inception through completion.
Outstanding judgment with the ability to understand the criticality and urgency of issues and prioritize them as appropriate within a fast-paced environment, providing clarity and direction to the team and to others throughout the company.
Strong business judgment to anticipate legal issues or risks and build the processes and systems to prevent them from occurring.
Ability to apply a high level of discretion, common sense and good judgment to ambiguous situations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate complex legal concepts confidently and effectively across multiple departments and levels within the organization.
