Description:
About KLW & the opportunityAt Kimura London & White LLP (KLW), we're more than a law firm—we're a fast-growing team of professionals dedicated to guiding clients through some of life's most important legal moments. From complex business disputes to personal injury recovery, estate planning, trust litigation, and family law matters, our clients rely on us to be responsive, compassionate, and excellent.
Our growing Irvine office seeks an experienced business litigation attorney who can independently lead complex commercial disputes, develop practical case strategies, negotiate successful resolutions, and oversee case teams. We are seeking an attorney with approximately 5–10 years of relevant experience, with particular interest in candidates who demonstrate the independent judgment and leadership associated with more senior practice.
Our matters span partnership and shareholder disputes, real estate disputes, international and cross-border litigation, cryptocurrency and digital-asset litigation, international arbitration, trust and estate litigation. The firm also handles other practice areas, and attorneys may collaborate on business transactions or support other matters as business needs arise.
This position calls for strong litigation fundamentals, courtroom advocacy, and motion practice; however, the work is not predominantly trial-focused. Negotiation, mediation, strategic settlement, and effective client counseling are central to the role. Trial preparation and court appearances remain important when appropriate.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and manage litigation teams, oversee complex cases and attorney caseloads, delegate assignments, ensure high-quality work, and mentor junior legal professionals.
- Manage business litigation matters from early case assessment through resolution, including litigation strategy, case schedules, staffing, and direct client communication.
- Develop and execute case strategy, including discovery, legal research and writing, law-and-motion practice, deposition planning, court hearings, and trial preparation when needed.
- Lead business negotiations and represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
- Handle complex commercial conflicts, including partnership and shareholder disputes, business-related real estate disputes, and other matters across the firm's litigation practice.
- Advise clients on litigation risk, business implications, settlement opportunities, and practical paths to resolution.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, build trusted client relationships, and work collaboratively with colleagues on business transactions or other practice needs as appropriate.
What you bring:
- Admission to, and active good standing with, the State Bar of California.
- Approximately 5–10 years of substantive business or commercial litigation experience; demonstrated ability to independently manage complex disputes is essential. Candidates with 8–10 years of relevant experience and team leadership are particularly encouraged.
- Substantial experience with law-and-motion practice, drafting and arguing motions, and managing discovery; strong legal analysis, written advocacy, and oral communication skills.
- Sound negotiation, mediation, settlement strategy, and practical commercial judgment, with the ability to advise clients confidently and proactively.
- Experience leading and managing legal professionals, assigning and reviewing work, and maintaining effective and efficient case teams.
- Strong courtroom presence and comfort appearing at hearings and arguing motions; extensive first-chair trial experience is not required.
- Excellent organization, client relations, communication, work ethic, and a proactive, collaborative, team-oriented approach.
Exposure to international litigation, international arbitration, cryptocurrency or digital-asset litigation, business transactions, or trust and estate litigation involving business interests is welcome. Experience across every practice area listed above is not required.
