A CA Estate Planning, Trust/Probate Lawyer is seeking a skilled and driven Senior Attorney with a minimum of three years of substantive experience to join our dynamic and expanding team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse docket, with a primary focus on civil litigation and additional exposure to probate, estate planning, and tax controversy (litigation and audits).

From the outset, you will take on meaningful responsibility, including:
  • Leading case strategy and execution, from pleadings through trial or resolution.
  • Handling complex motion practice, including drafting and arguing dispositive and procedural motions.
  • Managing all aspects of discovery, including depositions, written discovery, and expert coordination.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, providing strategic counsel, and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Mentoring and supervising junior attorneys, paralegals, and staff to ensure quality work product and professional growth.
  • Collaborating with firm leadership on case strategy, practice development, and business growth initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead case strategy and management across civil litigation, probate, estate planning, and tax controversy matters, from intake through resolution.
  • Draft, argue, and defend complex motions and appear in court for hearings, conferences, and trials.
  • Oversee discovery and evidence development, including depositions, written discovery, expert engagement, and trial preparation.
  • Serve as primary client counsel, maintaining direct communication, advising on strategy, and ensuring alignment with client objectives.
  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and staff, providing guidance, reviewing work product, and fostering professional development.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on high-stakes case strategy and contribute to practice growth and business development efforts.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of substantive litigation experience, with exposure to probate, estate planning, or tax controversy considered a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle cases independently, including drafting and arguing motions, managing discovery, and appearing in court.
  • Strong oral advocacy and legal writing skills, with proven success in high-stakes or complex matters.
  • Exceptional client relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust and provide strategic counsel.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior attorneys or staff preferred.
