Position Summary:
NoHLA seeks a fulltime (35-hours per week) Senior Attorney to join its mission-driven, highly collaborative staff team. Must live in Washington state.

Part of NoHLA's Advocacy Team, this role engages with a wide array of stakeholders, communities, organizations, professional associations, and governmental bodies.
What You'll Do:
As a Senior Attorney, you will help shape NoHLA's legal advocacy portfolio and support staff and partners in driving lasting, equitable health care improvements for all Washingtonians.
You Will:
- Advocate at the state and national levels to influence policies that impact health care.
- Collaborate with allied legal organizations and community partners on strategic case consultations, publications and trainings, coalition engagement, and advocacy initiatives.
- Engage in legal research, writing, amicus briefing, and litigation strategies. Where litigation is needed, lead collaboration with pro bono partners or allied legal organizations.
- Research and draft materials, including position papers, reports, and comments.
- Respond to inquiries from community advocates and policy makers.
- Prepare and deliver trainings, presentations, and media on relevant laws and policies.
- Identify opportunities for meaningful engagement and produce content that is accessible to diverse audiences.
- Assist with organizational communications (e.g., newsletter contributions), fundraising, and reporting related to work activities.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal Senior Attorney candidate will have:
- A license in WA state as an attorney or be able to take the next bar exam.
- At least 5 years of legal experience, including experience in litigation.
- Familiarity with laws and public policy related to NoHLA's work, such as health, public benefits, administrative, or civil rights law.
- Excellent writing, oral advocacy, and analytical skills.
- Talent for communicating effectively with a wide range of individuals and organizations in legal and non-legal settings, including demonstrated ability to explain complex legal issues.
- Desire to work cooperatively with lawyers, staff, and diverse organizations and coalitions.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and think strategically in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- (Preferred) Oral and written proficiency in one or more non-English languages.
