Description:
We are an established real estate law firm with offices across California. Our Southern California team is seeking a Litigation Attorney to handle a wide array of complex civil litigation matters, including, but not limited to, business and real estate litigation. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, a great team player, has a positive attitude, and who will develop strong relationships with our large client base while providing quality and effective representation. While you will be partnered with supportive mentors, ideal candidates must be able to operate independently with limited need for supervision.Schedule:
Position is full-time, exempt. Our business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm Friday. Training will be completed in the office and then the successful hire may be permitted to work remotely/hybrid.
Responsibilities:
- Litigation defense relating to breach of the implied warranty of habitability and other tenancy related claims
- Provide legal representation to clients, assessing the facts and issues of each scenario and counseling clients appropriately
- Review documents and guide clients through the eviction process
- Provide legal advice through phone consultations, emails, and video conferences
- Draft legal correspondence, including letters and notices
- Litigate unlawful detainer trials throughout Southern California courts
- Draft pre-trial motions and pleadings
- Represent the firm internally and externally
- Complete project-based work and additional duties as needed to support the practice group
Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- J.D. and an active California Bar license
- 7-10+ years of civil litigation experience
- General knowledge of civil litigation
- Trial experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with habitability law matters
- General knowledge of landlord-tenant law
- Experience in the rental housing industry
- Lexis/Westlaw experience
- Experience with case management and/or document management systems
