We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Associate specializing in Federal Employment and Labor Law. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex employment-related legal matters, providing strategic counsel and ensuring compliance with labor regulations.

Position: Senior Associate – Federal Employment Law (MSPB Focus)
Experience Level: 6+ years of specialized federal sector employment litigation
Location: Washington, D.C. / Hybrid or Remote Options Available
Target Audience: Experienced litigators from specialized practice groups or former Agency Counsel (e.g., VA, DOD, DHS, USPS)

Key Responsibilities:

Litigation & Representation: Lead the defense of federal agencies in MSPB appeals, including adverse actions, performance-based actions (Chapter 43/75), whistleblower retaliation (IRA appeals), and USERRA/VEOA claims.
Case Management: Manage all phases of the MSPB litigation lifecycle, including drafting agency files, handling complex discovery, taking and defending depositions, writing motions, and serving as lead counsel at hearings.
Strategic Counsel: Advise agency leadership, HR specialists, and management officials on employee relations, risk mitigation, and compliance with federal personnel laws.
Appellate Practice: Draft Petitions for Review (PFR) to the Full Board and briefs for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.): Degree from an accredited law school with an active bar membership in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction).
MSPB Expertise: Minimum of 5–8 years of direct experience representing management/agencies in MSPB forums. Deep familiarity with 5 C.F.R. regulations is mandatory.
Advocacy Skills: Proven track record of courtroom or administrative hearing experience, including strong oral advocacy and witness examination.
Writing Excellence: Exceptional brief-writing skills with the ability to distill complex federal personnel regulations into persuasive arguments.
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Secret security clearance, depending on agency clients.
