The McAllen, Texas office of Wood, Smith, Henning & Berman, LLP (WSHB), a national civil litigation defense firm, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with a minimum of five (5) years of civil litigation defense experience to join our growing litigation team. You must be licensed in Texas. This is an on-site position requiring you to come into the office 5 days per week.We are seeking a motivated attorney capable of handling a broad range of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, premises liability, construction, transportation, business litigation, and insurance defense. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation skills, excellent written and oral communication abilities, and the ability to independently manage a caseload while working collaboratively with senior attorneys and support staff. You will work on cases through all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, strategy development, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and trial preparation.

Responsibilities:
- Manage civil litigation defense matters from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and discovery responses.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Attend hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
- Prepare case analyses, litigation plans, and status reports for clients and insurance carriers.
- Develop and implement case strategy.
- Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial proceedings as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation defense experience.
- Active Texas Bar license.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
- Experience handling depositions, mediations, and motion practice.
- Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload.
- Insurance defense experience preferred.
- Trial experience is a plus.
