Description:
The Firm:For more than 40 years, German Gallagher & Murtagh, P.C. (GGM) has been a trusted presence in the Philadelphia legal community. From our Center City headquarters and Cherry Hill office, we represent national insurers, Fortune 500 companies, manufacturers, healthcare systems, financial institutions, and closely held businesses in complex civil litigation matters.
We are a litigation-first firm built on substantive excellence, strategic thinking, and long-term professional development. Many of our attorneys bring prior judicial clerkships, government service, and technical or scientific backgrounds to their practice. We value collegiality, mentorship, and attorneys who are serious about developing both trial skills and client relationships.
We are seeking a 4–7 year litigation attorney who wants real responsibility and meaningful courtroom experience.
This is not a “super-adjuster” position. The attorney who joins GGM will take an active role in shaping case strategy and litigating matters from inception through trial, appeal, or negotiated resolution. You will manage a caseload with appropriate autonomy, take and defend depositions, draft and argue substantive motions, handle court appearances, participate in mediations, and work closely with partners on trial preparation and execution.
What You'll Do:
- Independently manage civil defense matters from initial assignment through resolution
- Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and clients
- Take and defend fact and expert witness depositions
- Draft and argue dispositive and evidentiary motions
- Appear regularly in Pennsylvania and New Jersey state and federal courts
- Serve as a direct point of contact for clients
- Play a substantive role in trial preparation and courtroom advocacy
The ideal candidate:
- 4–7 years of civil litigation experience
- Experience in casualty, professional liability, insurance coverage, or related civil defense matters preferred
- Demonstrated deposition and motion practice experience
- Pennsylvania and New Jersey licensure required
- Strong analytical, writing, and courtroom skills
We believe that strong litigators should also have a pathway to leadership. Our associates have direct client exposure and are encouraged to develop relationships with carriers and industry partners. The firm actively supports marketing efforts, including writing, speaking, bar involvement, and industry engagement.
For attorneys interested in building their own book of business over time, GGM provides both the platform and the mentorship to do so. You will not be siloed from clients — you will be positioned to grow with them.
Why GGM

- Direct client engagement
- Support for long-term business development
- Hybrid flexibility
