Job Summary:This position typically provides prosecution of serious criminal cases for Dorchester County, including trial preparation, plea agreements, hearings, court filings and jury trials; prepares necessary reports; and deals courteously and effectively with fellow employees and citizens.

Duties:
Essential Job Functions:
- Assess, negotiate, and resolve cases in the office.
- Resolve cases in court.
- Advises, trains, and discuss issues/solutions with other lawyers.
- Correspond with law enforcement and opposing counsel.
- Assist law enforcement as necessary.
- Review and maintain case files and discovery.
- Draft motions and legal filings.
- Extend plea offers.
- Prosecute General Session matters.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school.
- South Carolina Bar Admission and Certification
- Seven (7) years of criminal law experience.
Additional Requirements:
Special Qualifications:
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license for South Carolina with a safe driving record.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Employees must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays during emergencies or as requested.
