A unique opportunity exists to work in the Virginia Office of the Attorney General as a Senior Assistant Attorney General/Section Chief in the Financial Recovery Section of the Civil Litigation Division. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead a large team of professionals and manage the day-to-day tasks of the Financial Recovery Section. The successful candidate will manage a staff of attorneys and supporting employees whose task it is to collect delinquent accounts receivables of state agencies and referred to the office by state agencies. Other duties of the position include: providing legal advice to state agencies on debt collection matters and procedures; reviewing and approving draft legal memoranda, pleadings, and other documents prepared by staff attorneys; providing training when needed to section attorneys and staff; when needed, litigate collection cases in Virginia courts; reviewing and approving settlements of collection cases and medical lien matters that are drafted by section attorneys.

Minimum Qualifications:
The candidate must be a member of the Virginia State Bar. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of civil litigation experience in collections and creditor's rights matters. The position requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in time management, and the ability to work both independently and as a team member. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and adjust priorities without close supervision.
