  • Prepare and file motions, briefs, appeals, and supporting evidentiary packages with precision and strategic intent.
  • Conduct detailed client interviews and intake, with a trauma-informed approach appropriate to clients facing removal proceedings.
  • Research complex immigration law issues, regulatory changes, and evolving case law to support innovative legal arguments.
  • Collaborate with and potentially mentor junior attorneys and legal staff on removal defense matters.
  • Participate in firmwide case strategy meetings and continuing legal education.

  • Ensure exceptional client communication throughout proceedings - clients facing removal require clarity, consistency, and compassion.

Requirements:
  • D. from an accredited law school; active bar license in good standing.
  • Minimum 3 years of immigration law experience with a meaningful removal defense caseload.
  • Demonstrated courtroom experience - comfortable advocating before immigration judges and managing hearing preparation independently.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume, deadline-driven docket with precision and composure.
  • Spanish fluency - required for this role given the client population served.
  • Self-starter mentality; able to operate with autonomy while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
  • Technological proficiency, including comfort with remote collaboration tools and case management platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with asylum claims, cancellation of removal, VAWA-based defenses, and U/T visa relief in the context of removal proceedings.
  • BIA appeals and federal circuit court experience.
  • Filevine or comparable case management software experience.
  • 5+ years of removal defense experience for senior-level consideration.
  • Experience in high-volume immigration court environments (Phoenix, Tucson, or similar).
