Reporting to the General Counsel, the Associate Counsel will serve as the internal legal point of contact on emerging technologies (e.g. artificial intelligence), support marketing and advertising initiatives, engage with Vendor Management on contract review and new engagements, perform legal research on various topics, support the complaint process, and perform other tasks as assigned by the General Counsel.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Remain knowledgeable of and provide advice and support to the company on emerging technologies and artificial intelligence use and risks
- Provide direction to the marketing department on communication and privacy laws that impact marketing initiatives
- Support the Fair Lending program as directed by the General Counsel
- Review and approve marketing items, handle escalation of social media monitors and ensure websites are compliant and meet PRMG standards
- Assist with consumer complaints by directing research and response
- Support compliance management functions
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Practical knowledge and experience with GLBA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, DNC, FTC rules and related laws and regulations
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards within the mortgage industry (i.e. the alphabet soup of mortgage laws and agency guidelines).
- Ability to draft documents quickly and precisely with limited guidance.Independently review new laws and regs and implement policies and procedures.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and good standing status with at least one state bar
- At least three years in-house experience at a mortgage company or in private practice serving mortgage clients in the areas of marketing, advertising, AI use and related areas.
- Proficiency in the review of mortgage documentation and an understanding of the mortgage life cycle and consumer experience.
