Description:
As part of An American Autonomous Driving Technology Development Company Legal team, you will work on the exciting legal issues surrounding our transformational autonomous driving technology and help drive our business from technology ideation through scaled commercial deployment. We collaborate with our policy, engineering, product, strategy, marketing, communications, and operations teams to ensure compliance with an increasingly complex and dynamic range of global regulations and shape new legislation and regulations. And we anticipate, mitigate, and litigate high-profile and precedent-setting regulatory matters.In this hybrid role, you will report into our Managing Counsel - Regulatory.
You Will:
- Advise on application of existing laws and regulations in novel factual situations.
- Partner with cross-functional partners (e.g. Policy, Product, Safety, Engineering) to shape outcomes in regulatory and legislative proceedings affecting An American Autonomous Driving Technology Development Company business.
- Advise teams building scalable regulatory compliance programs and processes.
- Gain subject matter expertise in new areas as novel issues and topics emerge.
You Have:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
- 3 to 5+ years of experience as an attorney at a firm, in-house at a company, or in government.
- Exceptional legal analysis skills and a comprehensive understanding of complex legal subject matter.
- Ability to propose practical solutions to legal issues and lead legal compliance and risk mitigation.
- Experience with evaluating the importance and effect of legal issues and balancing with appropriate urgency.
- Experience in ambiguous or challenging situations.
- Experience with relevant subject matter such as autonomous vehicles, other automotive, ride-hailing, trucking.
- Experience advising clients on unprecedented issues involving technology.
- Experience advising clients about safety-critical risks.
- Experience engaging with regulatory agencies about sensitive, complex topics.
