We currently have an opportunity for a Regional Counsel in East Elmhurst, NY. As Regional Counsel you will report to the VP, Director of Legal Department.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial, construction and real estate contracts.
- Develop strategies for resolving disputes and claims and supervise outside counsel on litigation.
- Represent An Infrastructure & Construction Company in mediations and arbitrations.
- Draft corporate documents, joint venture, and partnership agreements.
- Advise senior-level executives on legal, operational, compliance and regulatory risk and corporate governance matters.
- Develop deep relationships with our construction project teams and key business partners.
- Develop and implement strategies across the organization to improve our legal processes and reduce risk.
- Tour our projects throughout the region.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Juris Doctor degree (NY tri-state area law school preferred)
- NY or CA Bar
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial litigation and some contract drafting experience.
- Public contracting/infrastructure experience in construction is required
- Experience working with government contracts or public-sector procurement.
- Substantive prior experience directly advising clients on complex matters.
- Solid experience in balancing business needs and risk
Skills:
- Fluency in Lexis, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint and proficiency in MS Excel (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Analytical skills and ability to develop reasoning independently.
- Brilliant writing skills - ability to craft compelling and persuasive narratives and draft favorable agreements without legalese.
- A high EQ and IQ
- Meticulous attention to detail
