A well-established and growing attorney-owned and operated Raleigh title insurance agency has an opportunity for a full-time NC licensed real estate attorney. We are seeking an attorney with at least one year of experience conducting real estate searches, closings, or working in title insurance to join our underwriting team handling residential and commercial transactions. Attorneys with additional experience are encouraged to apply. A solid understanding of real estate law and title insurance is required.Position Overview:
This position involves all aspects of underwriting residential and commercial real estate transactions, including reviewing surveys, communicating with real estate professionals, and producing title insurance commitments, policies, and endorsements. Additional responsibilities include some general administrative tasks. Attention to detail, superior organizational skills, excellent communication skills, problem-solving ability, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.
If needed, the company will train the successful candidate to become a licensed title insurance agent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review title opinions and related documentation
- Analyze, identify and resolve title issues
- Underwrite and issue commitments, policies, and endorsements for residential and complex commercial transactions
- Review surveys for applicable title matters
- Complete ALTA endorsements for complex commercial transactions
- Communicate with real estate attorneys, their staff, and underwriters clearing title issues and lender requirements
- Proofread title commitments, policies, and endorsements
- Perform some organizational duties and general office task
Requirements:
- North Carolina Law License / NC Bar License in good standing (required)
- 1+ year of experience practicing real estate law, closing transactions, or working in real estate title insurance
- Strong understanding of title insurance and title policy issuance
- Experience conducting title searches and preparing title opinions
- Ability to navigate North Carolina Register of Deeds websites, eCourts, and other relevant public records
- Excellent attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
- Superior organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong professional communication skills
- Ability to prioritize assignments, multitask, and meet deadlines
- Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively in a small, fast-paced office environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with SoftPro real estate software
- Prior commercial real estate or title insurance underwriting experience and/or licensure
- Familiarity reviewing surveys
