Job Description:Whiteford (https://www.whitefordlaw.com/), a business-focused law firm with a strong Mid-Atlantic presence, is seeking a senior-level attorney to join our Real Estate practice in our Baltimore, Maryland, or Richmond, Virginia office. The successful candidate will have meaningful experience handling sophisticated commercial real estate transactions and will be prepared to assume substantial responsibility in a busy and growing transactional practice.
Candidates should have five or more years of commercial real estate experience, with a strong background in acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing, development, and closing transactions. Candidates should be comfortable drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, commercial leases, loan documents, easements, covenants, closing documents, and other transaction documents. Experience with office, retail, industrial, warehouse, ground leasing, multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, condominium, manufactured housing, infrastructure, or corporate real estate matters is strongly preferred.
Attorney responsibilities will include working directly with partners and clients on complex commercial real estate transactions; drafting, reviewing, and negotiating transaction documents; leading title, survey, lease, zoning, and diligence review; coordinating closings; managing junior attorneys and paralegals on transaction teams; and helping clients evaluate and resolve legal and business issues that arise during the life cycle of real estate transactions.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills; strong academic credentials; good interpersonal judgment; diligence and attention to detail; and the ability to manage transactions efficiently and independently. The candidate should be confident interacting with clients, opposing counsel, lenders, title companies, surveyors, and other transaction participants. We are particularly interested in candidates who are ambitious, collaborative, practical, and interested in helping grow and support Whiteford's Real Estate practice.
