Whiteford (https://www.whitefordlaw.com/), a business-focused law firm with a strong Mid-Atlantic presence, is seeking a junior to mid-level associate to join our Real Estate practice in our Baltimore, Maryland, or Richmond, Virginia office. The successful candidate will work with an experienced team on a broad range of sophisticated commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, development, financing, and due diligence matters.

Candidates should have approximately two to four years of commercial real estate experience, preferably including exposure to purchase and sale transactions, commercial leasing, real estate financing, title and survey review, entity and authority documents, closing checklists, and other transaction documentation. Experience with office, retail, industrial, multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, condominium, manufactured housing, infrastructure, or corporate real estate matters is a plus.

The associate will work closely with partners and senior attorneys representing developers, owners, investors, lenders, landlords, tenants, infrastructure companies, nonprofit organizations, and middle-market businesses. Attorney responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing purchase agreements, leases, financing documents, easements, covenants, closing documents, and other real estate transaction documents; assisting with title, survey, zoning, leasing, and diligence review; coordinating closings; and supporting attorneys on complex transactions involving improved and unimproved real estate assets.

A successful candidate will have strong academic credentials, excellent written and oral communication skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a practical approach to problem solving. The candidate should be organized, responsive, collegial, and able to manage assignments independently while working collaboratively with attorneys, clients, paralegals, and other professionals. We are particularly interested in candidates who are eager to learn, take ownership of their work, and build a long-term practice in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.

A J.D. is required. Bar admission in Maryland or Virginia is preferred, and candidates must be admitted or eligible to waive into the jurisdiction where the office is located.

The salary range is $145,000 – $160,000 based on experience.
