Real Estate Practice Overview
Our real estate team advises on commercial, residential, and non-profit transactions involving properties in all asset classes and represents some of the most prominent individuals and institutions in the world.

We advise and assist both domestic and international investors, developers, institutions and individuals in a wide range of global real estate transactions. With 17 offices around the world, the firm is international in the most complete sense of the word. We counsel individuals and institutional clients in a variety of different industries on the day-to-day handling of legal and business matters relating to real property acquisition, disposition, leasing, financing, development and management. In the U.S., we have commercial and residential real estate capabilities on both the East Coast and West Coast, and also regularly handle transactions in a variety of other markets nationwide.

The Role:
This role will sit in our San Francisco office.
  • Ability to handle key aspects of complex commercial and residential purchases and sales (e.g. title and survey review, the transaction process, communications with counsel, escrow and principals).
  • Experience with finance, commercial leasing (office, retail, industrial, ground leasing and agricultural), conveyancing, entitlements/subdivisions and structuring, and drafting to form and advise complex ownership vehicles.
  • Knowledge of general real estate taxation issues and compliance with California real estate laws.
  • Strong capability to proactively track and advance a transaction from start to finish, including creating and managing closing checklists and due diligence checklists, and preparing for and assisting with closings.
  • The role will also involve contributing to the team's profile and undertaking business development activities to establish, develop, and maintain long-term relationships; including, writing articles/posts, attending events/conferences and building networks with private wealth contacts/intermediaries including global and peer firms and counsel.

Key Skills and Experience
  • Admitted and in good standing with the California Bar;
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience practicing in a law firm's Real Estate group;
  • Strong academic credentials;
  • Domestic experience required and international/cross-border experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong drafting, writing, research and communication skills;
  • Proactive self-starter;
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to balance and prioritize multiple assignments;
  • Attention to detail; and
  • Team Player with a desire to be trained and deepen and expand skill set.
  • For the state of California, the expected annual range for this position is between $205,000 and $260,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
