Responsibilities and practice:
Dentons US LLP is seeking an associate to join our dynamic, expanding Real Estate team. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials and a strong interest in real estate and construction law. Key responsibilities will include:
- Work closely with colleagues across the firm in a collaborative environment to deliver seamless, integrated service on multifaceted construction matters, supported by a team invested in training and development (10%)
- Draft manuscript design, development, and construction agreements, and work with AIA and other industry-standard forms to prepare, review, and negotiate construction contracts, design-build agreements, EPC contracts, development agreements, design agreements, and all transactional documents necessary for a construction project (45%)
- Collaborate with internal and client teams on the structuring, coordination, and execution of complex transactions with multiple stakeholders related to real estate development and construction projects (15%)
- Conduct thorough due diligence and legal research to support project development and risk management (25%)
- Assist in resolving construction-related disputes, including defect and delay claims, through arbitration and litigation (5%).
Based on years of experience, Dentons associates may have a title of Associate, Managing Associate, or Senior Managing Associate. Position Requirements:
Personal skills/attributes:
- Work experience, training or academic coursework must have included:
- Experience in a client facing role at a global law firm with a national US real estate practice;
- Transactional and/or litigation experience in real estate or construction law; experience conducting due diligence and legal research to support transactional and dispute-related matters;
- Experience collaborating with internal and client teams on the structuring, coordination and execution of complex transactions with multiple stakeholders related to real estate development projects, which involve residential and commercial buildings and mixed-use developments.
Technical skills:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree or foreign equivalent
- One (1) year of law firm experience
Other Requirements:
Must have or be eligible for license to practice law in the State of Missouri
