Responsibilities:
- Lead real estate litigation matters from inception through trial
- Handle commercial and residential property disputes
- Navigate landlord-tenant conflicts and property rights issues, title disputes, and real estate fraud cases
- Guide clients through zoning and land use litigation
- Manage and respond to written discovery
- Motion practice and conducting legal research
- Investigating key facts and gathering critical case information
- File, depose, mediate, and litigate pursuant to our core values and culture with minimal oversight
- Represent clients in real estate disputes/litigation and business disputes
- Take into account all legal aspects of the clients' intended outcome and personal circumstances to provide sound legal advice to them
- Represent client at real estate closings, in real estate disputes, and real estate litigation
- Oversee support staff such as paralegals and clerks
- Write and review title abstracts, summaries, and commitments, purchase and property management agreements, contracts, probate and trust documents, leases, and financing statements, as needed
- Cooperate with city boards and agencies to obtain permits and avoid zoning legal issues
- Consider all legal aspects of clients' circumstances and desired outcome to provide sound legal advice to them
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a civil litigation attorney handling depositions, mediations, and court and jury trials in accordance with CA civil procedure required
- Up-to-date knowledge of property management, business law, title insurance, land use, and residential and commercial real estate law, including litigation preferred
- Able to use Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint with proficiency
- Prior real estate litigation experience required
- Maintaining an active CA Bar License in good standing is required
- Juris Doctor required
- A strong passion for litigation, coupled with the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, will be the key to excelling in this role
- Relevant knowledge of property management, land use, title insurance, business law, and residential and commercial real estate law, including litigation
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a residential or commercial real estate attorney, as a transactional attorney, or as corporate counsel for a real estate development firm
- A Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school is required
- Proficient with computers
- Maintain a current law license in the state and be a member of the local bar association
Compensation:
$150,000 - $180,000 yearly
