Overview:
A highly regarded and prestigious mid-size Illinois based law firm is looking for an associate attorney with 1-5 years of residential and commercial real estate experience to work with our Real Estate Team on a variety of matters.

Please Note this position will require in-person attendance and involvement in real estate closings throughout Chicagoland and neighboring suburbs.

Preferred experience includes: providing organizational and coordination for residential and commercial real estate closings, preparing and tracking of closing checklists and timelines, oversight of preparation of closing binders, coordinating loan documentation, reviewing real estate documents, clearing title requirements, resolving title defects, reviewing due diligence materials, and substantial participation at closings.

This position will require strong organizational and analytical skills with superior attention to detail. The candidate must work well under pressure and be able to prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against strict time deadlines.

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Residential and Commercial Real Estate Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in real estate law, with the ability to navigate complex transactions and provide expert legal guidance to clients. This role involves working closely with clients, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Duties:
  • Conduct thorough legal research on commercial real estate matters, utilizing tools such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents including purchase agreements, leases, and financing agreements.
  • Advise clients on issues related to property acquisition, development, leasing, and disposition.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of real estate laws and regulations to effectively advise clients.

Skills and Preferred Requirements for the Real Estate Paralegal:

  • 1-5 years of real estate experience
  • J.D. from an accredited law school, actively licensed and in good standing with the Illinois State Bar
  • Prior successful experience at a real estate law firm, a real estate company, or in the real estate practice group of a full-service law firm preferred
  • A portable book of business or existing client base is preferred
  • Outstanding references
  • The ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Good interpersonal skills, passion for working in real estate
  • Some knowledge of loan processes, escrow and real estate documentation.
  • Extensive experience working directly with clients
  • Excellent analytical, legal research, drafting and writing skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and self-directed behavior
  • Superior organizational and project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong oral and writing capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings
  • Ability to work collaboratively with supervising attorneys, paralegals and other team members.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficient in legal research methodologies and tools such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw.
  • Strong legal drafting skills with the ability to write clear and concise legal documents.
  • Excellent negotiation skills to advocate for clients' best interests in transactions.
  • Knowledge of personal injury law and environmental law is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in reviewing contracts and agreements.
