Amazon Devices and Services is seeking an experienced Product Regulatory Counsel to advise on the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape surrounding consumer electronics, hardware compliance, product safety, sustainability, e-waste, recyclability, and ecodesign.
Amazon Devices develops and delivers innovative products and services used by millions of customers worldwide, including Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, Fire TV, Echo, and eero. In this role, you will work at the intersection of technology, product development, environmental regulation, and sustainability, helping Amazon bring innovative products to market while navigating complex and evolving regulatory requirements around the world.
You will serve as a counsel across all Amazon devices, where you will partner closely with engineering, compliance, safety, and business leaders to translate complex laws and regulations into practical strategies that enable the business to move quickly and responsibly.
This opportunity offers the ability to operate with significant autonomy, develop deep relationships with business and technical leaders, and serve as a broad legal advisor while building expertise in a rapidly evolving area of law.
Some travel, domestic and international, will be required. This role may be based in Sunnyvale, CA or Seattle, WA.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on sustainability, e-waste, recycling, ecodesign, and product compliance laws and regulations affecting consumer electronics and hardware
- Advise compliance and product teams on regulatory requirements, compliance strategies, product certifications, environmental obligations, and regulatory markings
- Counsel teams on product safety, hardware compliance, environmental regulations, product stewardship, and emerging sustainability requirements
- Monitor and interpret new and evolving laws and regulations and provide practical, actionable guidance to business and technical teams
- Develop legal strategies and scalable legal frameworks that enable the business to meet regulatory obligations while continuing to innovate and bring products to market efficiently
- Partner with public policy and government affairs teams on emerging legislation and regulations and support advocacy and implementation strategies
- Work with international legal teams and local counsel to assess global regulatory requirements and address complex cross-border compliance issues
- Manage attorney-client relationships independently, build trust with senior stakeholders, and proactively identify legal risks and opportunities
- Develop strategies for addressing complex legal issues in creative, business-centric ways that enable the business to move quickly

Basic Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 5+ years of legal experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in a national or international law firm or in-house, preferably with experience in regulatory or product compliance matters
- Strong written and oral communication, analytical, and computer skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing successfully to cross-functional teams
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
