Description:
Pro Bono Program Leadership- Recruit, train, and manage a growing cohort of pro bono attorneys and DOJ accredited representatives
- Develop and deliver immigration law trainings and presentations for pro bono attorneys, DOJ accredited representatives, and law students
- Establish clear workflows, expectations, and quality standards for pro bono case management
- Participate in interviewing and hiring processes for pro bono attorneys and staff
Direct Legal Representation
- Represent clients in a range of immigration matters, including removal defense, asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), U visas, family-based petitions, and adjustments of status
- Appear before USCIS and EOIR on behalf of B1C clients
- Mentor pro bono attorneys and DOJ accredited representatives on complex immigration cases, providing legal advice and trauma-informed representation support
Supervision & Mentorship
- Supervise and provide substantive legal guidance to pro bono attorneys, and DOJ accredited representatives, law students
- Collaborate with the ILS Director to assess client eligibility for immigration relief and determine representation strategies
- Review and quality-check legal work product prepared by supervised staff and volunteers
Consultations & Clinics
- Conduct and supervise individual legal consultations during designated consultation days, including B1C's Attorney of the Day program
- Participate in and help lead large-scale legal clinics, providing legal analysis, screening, and advice to community members
- Support Know Your Rights sessions and Family Preparedness Workshops as needed
- Represent B1C in coalitions, partnerships, and community settings relevant to immigration legal services
- Contribute to grant reporting, impact tracking, and programmatic planning as needed
- Stay current on changes in immigration law and policy and share updates with the ILS team
