We are looking for a Privacy and Security Counsel to join Roblox's Legal and Advocacy team. Reporting to the Senior Privacy and Security Counsel, you will work on a broad array of privacy matters for a rapidly-growing company that innovates and finds creative solutions to complex problems. This role will involve privacy legal and regulatory analysis, drafting, and collaborating across the organization. We are looking for someone who is familiar with privacy, excited to work collaboratively with both legal and business teams, and looking to dive into complex and interesting privacy issues.

You Will:
  • Evaluate data protection terms in contracts, marketing materials, and Roblox policies.
  • Draft external privacy notices and disclosures and manage/update internal policies and procedures in accordance with global laws bearing on privacy.
  • Provide privacy subject-matter expertise and guidance to operational, product, safety, customer support, and engineering teams.
  • Support workstreams involving user requests and facilitating privacy rights.
  • Inform privacy compliance including counseling on Data Protection Impact Assessments and privacy requirements.
  • Monitor, research, and communicate federal, state, and international regulatory developments to identify risk factors that can affect Roblox's business and operations.
  • Counsel on matters relating to user and employee data practices.
  • Remain up-to-date on relevant privacy and platform laws, regulations, enforcement actions, and evolving industry standards to provide an ongoing ability to provide sound compliance advice.
  • Tackle any additional incoming questions that require privacy advice!

You Have:
  • 3-5 years of privacy law experience.
  • A working knowledge of COPPA, GDPR, CCPA, or international privacy and data protection laws.
  • A strong plus is a background in children's/teen privacy and compliance issues.
  • Strong academic credentials, previous privacy experience, or training at a major national law firm; in-house experience a plus.
  • Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar; California Bar admission preferred.
  • Excellent business-oriented judgment and the ability to analyze problems, propose resolutions, and provide advice that is creative, practical and legally acceptable, taking into account the needs and objectives of the business.
  • Ability to work well with a small, tightly knit team and desire to seek responsibility and work autonomously. Must be able to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues, particularly in a fast-paced corporate setting.
  • A sound work ethic, efficient working style, and high level of organization. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.

The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand.
