A Full-Service Am Law 200 Firm is seeking an attorney to join our dynamic Privacy & Data Security team in either the Denver or Boulder location. We are looking for a candidate who can hit the ground running.Our Privacy & Data Security team advises and counsels clients in a wide variety of industries on privacy and security compliance, privacy and security diligence in M&A deals, privacy and security risk assessments, responding to and mitigating data security breaches, artificial intelligence, and everything in between. We also are focused on navigating complex data protection regulations, drafting meticulous privacy policies, and counseling clients through the intricacies of safeguarding sensitive information in various transactions.
This position will provide substantial opportunities for client contact and developing one's skills.
Position Description:
This position involves counseling clients on data privacy and cybersecurity compliance matters.
Responsibilities:
The position will require a candidate who can:
- Provide expert legal advice on a range of consumer privacy matters.
- Counsel clients on compliance matters involving the CPA, CCPA, CPRA, COPPA, FCRA, FERPA, GDPR, GLBA, HIPAA, and TCPA, and other laws regulating the collection, use, and handling of data and personal information.
- Conduct legal research and stay abreast of evolving privacy laws and regulations.
- Draft and review privacy notices and policies, terms of service, and compliance documentation.
- Assist in the development of privacy compliance programs for clients.
- Assist with data breach notification requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals.
Candidate Requirements Description
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience at a top national or international law firm and in privacy and cybersecurity space with demonstrated knowledge of technical aspects of complying with comprehensive privacy laws. The candidate must have excellent communication, analytical, and research skills, and be a strong writer. The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team and have a willingness to collaborate in person on demanding projects.
Ideal Candidate Description
- At least one IAPP certification.
- Demonstrated experience counseling clients and drafting relevant documentation, notices, disclosures, and policies for privacy and security compliance matters.
- Experience with handling data breach investigations, notifications, privacy assessments, and data mapping exercises.
- Experience drafting and negotiating data protection and security terms in commercial transactions.
